Party time at the house

Today we held two concurrent birthday celebrations. The first was held in the morning for Sacha, and then Sofia's two best friends arrived in the afternoon to celebrate her special third birthday with her.

We had two cakes (Sofia had three this week...but that is another story), a number one for Sacha, and a mouse cake for Sofia.

Sofia had a"fairy castle" appear by magic in her lounge while she was at the park with her Nanny and Granddad. Her two big girl cousins Jessica and Holly added to the special magic by dressing up in her undersized dress ups and becoming the "red fairy" and the "pink fairy" for her. They took her away and dressed her up as the "purple fairy".

It was my job to make Sacha a birthday crown for his first birthday with the idea that every year on their birthday they get to wear it. I never put Sofia's away, but rather leave it on her shelf in her bedroom to remind her of special times of celebration. Sacha is green, blue and brown with accents of mother of pearl and paua (abalone shell) on each side and a very special gold button from my Mum's collection which was just perfect.

Does anyone know this poem?
My Mum sings it all the time.

The lion and the unicorn were fighting for the crown
The lion beat the unicorn all around the town.
Some gave them white bread, and some gave them brown;
Some gave them plum cake and drummed them out of town.

For the interesting history, go here...

Here are my two little ones in their crowns at one year of age. I think they are noticeably siblings.
