Some planting

During the day yesterday Sofia, Sacha and I went to the nursery to get some plants for the garden. It was time for more lettuce, seed potatoes, red onion, parsley (the transplanted one went to seed), and some marigold to ward of those evil pests.

When Shawn got home that night after Sofia's dinner we all went into the garden and got busy. It was a wonderfully relaxing way to spend the early evening. It certainly was productive!

We are now growing:
  • zucchini
  • lettuce
  • potatoes (nadine)
  • red onion
  • tomatoes (sweet 100s)
  • capsicum (red and mixed)
  • beetroot
  • daikon
  • various herbs (including trying out coriander for the 1st time)

We are lucky enough to have inherited a number of fruit trees with the new house which is exciting:

  • crab apple
  • plums (Christmas and satsuma varieties)
  • orange
  • lemon (meyer)
  • apple (variety yet to be determined)

Shawn's Mum gave him a tamarillo/tree tomato tree and a grape vine for Christmas too. So far the tamarillo/tree tomato is in the ground but we haven't decided on a location for the grape vine yet. Any ideas?

I love watching Sofia exploring the garden and helping her Daddy with the planting. I hope she'll always love it.
