Stunning transformation

Today something special happened before our eyes.

We had brought the very fat caterpillar from our garden and his swan plant inside into the conservatory so the birds wouldn't get to him before he had chance to realise his full potential to fly! After a couple for days when Sofia talked to and pointed at him, and attempted to cuddle him (which nearly cost him his life). He stopped adventuring.

He spent most of yesterday morning hanging from a single leaf by a thread with his bottom part rolled into a little ball. Then when Shawn came home and the weather had cooled down a little last night, he began to swing. He slipped out of his caterpillar skin (pretty amazing stuff) and into his chrysalis.

You can see him/her making the transformation in the video below. Please excuse my rudimentary camera skills and Sofia's pointing finger. Actually, I debated about posting this video as Shawn and I both dislike the way we sound on camera when talking to our Sofia. But hey, it is very cute to see the caterpillar getting his wiggle on to change out of the caterpillar suit and into the chrysalis. So enjoy!
